Long live the king!

Monday morning, the most difficult morning of the week. Standing in front of my closet and wondering what to wear. That question is answered within 2 seconds, it’s Monday so Yellow! Yellow is the colour of the Thai king, a few weeks ago they celebrated his accession to the throne which happened 60 years ago. Since that celebration day the whole country is covered in yellow and pictures of the king and royal family. The rest of the year everybody is still supposed to wear yellow on Monday. Why on Monday? Probably because it makes your Monday morning easier, because the problem of what to wear is solved.
Last week I received an e-mail from a friend who was staying in India but he is from the US, I’ve met him in China and he was coming to Bangkok for the weekend. Can you still follow?
Saturday we started with shopping around the area of Siam Square with our personal Thai guide (a colleague of Chris who wasn’t that familiar with Bangkok, which resulted in several U-turns). They always say that women are terrible shoppers, don’t agree on that one. Men are worse, at least American ones (but that’s ok Chris :D). The evening started with some cocktails in the bar of the Novotel. Next item on the schedule: Hard Rock Café. Soon an US marine joined our group. How we knew that he was an US marine? Well, he didn’t talk about anything else. After a couple of more tequila shots we were not the only ones who knew that he was a US marine. Ay ay, could be heard after every 5 minutes or so through a nice looking, peaceful Thai restaurant. Because the US marine put his volume button on maximum. A nice thing to know is that Thai people never shout, it is considered very impolite.
Our next stop: Nana. A very nice bar street according to our guide. To give you a short summary: elephants in the streets and bars where girls were actually not really wanted. That’s why we decided after one pool game to take off again. Our guide came with another great plan, let’s take the tuk-tuk back! With four people in the back of a tuk-tuk (as you can see on one of my previous pictures they ain’t that big). The tuk-tuk driver seemed to look forward to this ride so he started enthusiastically. The tuk-tuk suddenly didn’t drove on 3 wheels but on 2. The front of the tuk-tuk jumped up. At least the tuk-tuk driver thought it was funny. Our final destination of the evening: The Boom Room. Must be a great place to end the evening. Although that they didn’t believe that I was over 21 at first we could finally enter. Live music and Tom Cruise cocktail shows. It was indeed a good place to end the evening.
The next day looked a lot like last Sunday. Buddha’s and temples, but hey I’m in Asia right?!
Last week I’ve discovered a number of remarkable things around here that I also would like to share with you:

No Venus Vibrance for legs Thai Goddesses
To give you a picture of what I see around me everyday: tiny girls with school uniforms which consist of a short skirt, white blouse and most of them wear slippers with high heels. That’s ok, don’t got any problems with that. But once in a while you see a girl that’s not so tiny with also a short skirt, white blouse and slippers with high heels. Still not really a problem but if you see those hairy legs under the skirts it is becoming a problem. I still didn’t figure out what’s the relation between not so tiny girls and hairy legs because there definitely seems to be a relation. Can somebody fill me in?

Double parking: No ploblem!
What do you do when you have a lot of cars and not that many parking spaces? Easy, double park! But how can you get out? Easy, if you double park just don’t put your car on the hand brake so they can push your car aside when somebody wants to get out! Why do we always think so difficult?
