Road trippin’ Big pimpin’ style

Is there a better way than to go on a road trip in a BMW (I don’t know what kind of, just a big one, with leather interior and board phone) while the rest of the road is conquered by Lada’s, Trabants and carts with donkeys in front of it?
Flying over the roads with 150 km/h from one place to another. Archaeological places, botanic gardens and traditional restaurants. Especially the last one can never be erased from a Bulgarian road trip, together with Rakya (national alcoholic beverage, best when it’s home brewed) and Shopskha Salad. So also yesterday we planned to have lunch in a traditional restaurant. And this one was even more traditional than the restaurant Milev on my previous pictures. The interior designer of this restaurant bought the entire local flee market.
The owner of the restaurant, Ivan decided that I was his daughter after just being in the restaurant for several minutes. His hair was somewhat red, but I hope that the hair is the only resemblance… So during the rest of the lunch he didn’t leave our table anymore and after every few minutes…Nazdrave duster (Cheers daughter)…and me: Nazdrave Todka (or something…cheers father). After more and more nazdraves he decided that it was time to negotiate about my price, he really wanted to keep me. Todor didn’t like that idea so convinced him not to buy me. Instead he wanted to give me a nice present. We all had to walk to the back of the restaurant and wait for him. He came back with a huge rabbit. I had to feed him and when it was fat enough eat it. I know it is not polite to refuse a gift but I just had to refuse this one. A rabbit in my room…not really.
By the way last time I told that Dobrich is a quiet city. To give you an example to make my point clear: the first McDonalds is not closer than 35km away (in the next town Varna). Really this is a city as big as Leeuwarden (even a bit bigger) and there’s no McDonalds. It’s just hard for me to understand that. On top of that I hear from every single person that I’m really here during the wrong time of year, summer is great but winter is boring. This week we had a look in Golden Sands. A great place in summer with loads of hotels, clubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment. Now most of the hotels are closed, only a few of them are open but they only have an occupancy of around 20%. It looked like a ghost town.
FYI: my hotmail and Groupwise are working again and I also have two Bulgarian phone numbers: +359885398632 (mobile), +35958655636 (phone in my room).
